My first really hobby and still one of my favorites, Breyer horses. My photos and notes on Breyerfest 2011 in Lexington, KY.

I stay in Georgetown, KY which is a wonderful historic town with several interesting things to do. You won't have time to do any of it though if you are a Breyer fan. If you are a Breyer model fan you know Breyerfest is mainly lines, lines...and more LINES. Hot weather and walking what seems like miles to your car.

This year we stopped in at my favorite cafe the Lock and Key for a Hagel *ham, cheese and egg bagel* and some great smoothies.

One of the attractions of Georgetown is the Japanese cultural garden and although it is not always well maintained is always a pleasure to see. The cultural building which is in progress shows signs of finally being done and had a beautiful display of Japanese cloth folding in the window.

The garden which was sponsored by the nearby Toyota factory ( which has wonderful free tours ) also has a wonderful, if not green, fish pond. Feeding the fish is a treat every year.

Beware there is poison Ivy growing in the bamboo!! A poisonous plant which can hardly be stopped in the midwest and appears everywhere.

Although I do have some picture of the Breyerfest in general most did not turn out well due to the dim light of the arena. The KY horsepark is beautiful and had the pleasure of hosting the world equestrian games this past year.

Lately the park has not had any major museum attractions which is disappointing.

I never got the nerve to ask the knight in the medieval tent for a photograph but took this shot of his tent. I give him credit for not dying wearing a full metal suit, wool undies and a hat in 100 degree weather. Kudos to you!!
The Breyer auction models always draw attention and I felt in the way of potential buyers eying the case, so I only grabbed a few shots of my favorites. ( this may be about the only place online of the photos since I've never seen any auction model photos around )
This is very similar to the few glossy Spun Gold surprises that I saw...I wanted one but wasn't that lucky. Curse you Breyer...
OMG he is gorgeous!!
Even if I said I wasn't lucky earlier...I'm freakish lucky because I grabbed ( i.e. bought for a huge price in my opinion ) just 3 Spun Gold surprises and each was different! I used my partner who is my Mom to grab some and we shared luck. Here are the 3 of the 4 colors of Spun Gold > the 4th is a glossy close to the auction model above.
